People from Latin American and Caribbean countries who are interested in studying at a public and free university in Brazil have until July 29 to apply for the International Selection Process (PSI for its Portuguese initials) of the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA). The university offers 478 spots in 29 undergraduate programs for admission in 2025. All information about the PSI - such as requirements, registration schedule, and selection criteria - is available in Call for Applications 04/2024.

Located in Foz do Iguaçu (Paraná state), UNILA reserves 50% of its spots for international students. The university is public and free, so it does not charge an application fee for the selection process, nor does it charge tuition fees. Academic activities are bilingual, in Portuguese and Spanish, so it is not mandatory to speak Portuguese to be part of the student body.

Currently, UNILA has more than four thousand students from 36 different countries.

The Selection

The International Selection Process is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old and have completed secondary education or its equivalent. Applicants of Brazilian nationality are not eligible to apply in this call.

The entire registration process is free and online. To participate in the selection, it is necessary to complete an online registration (creating a username and password) in the Integrated Academic Activities Management System (SIGAA for its Portuguese initials). After registration, the candidate must enroll by logging in with the previously registered username and password in SIGAA. At the time of the enrollment, it is necessary to attach some personal documents in PDF format to the form, such as an identity document, birth or marriage certificate, secondary education completion certificate or diploma, and academic transcript. It is also mandatory to attach the Declaration Form, available in Annex I of the Call for Application. Each applicant can choose two course options.

The PSI 2025 provides 92 spots for student aid in the form of accommodation in Student Housing and financial subsidies for meals at the University Restaurant. To compete for these spots, it is necessary to demonstrate financial need by submitting the required documents in the application form, as specified in the Call.
