Graduate Program in Contemporary Integration of Latin America (PPGICAL)
The Graduate Program in Contemporary Integration of Latin America (PPG-ICAL) offers an in-person Master’s and a Doctorate Degree and it is inserted in the field of Political Science and International Relations, although its perspective is fully interdisciplinary, as one may observe by means of its lines of research. Anthropology, Communication, Law, Economy, Geopolitics, History and Sociology are some of the fields it contemplates due to the common effort of the program to be aimed at studying Latin American integration from new epistemologies of the continent, meaning the development and application of a Latin American social thinking which is focused on sympathetic cooperation.
PPG-ICAL meets the mission of UNILA. Pursuant to Art. 2 of Law 12.189/2010, which created the University, UNILA has the specific institutional mission of developing human resources who are able to contribute to the integration of Latin America, the regional development and the cultural, scientific and educational interchange in the continent, especially within Mercosur. In page 27 of the Institutional Development Plan - PDI 2019-2023 of UNILA, it is possible to see the intrinsic relation between this document and the proposal of PPG-ICAL: "acting in the bordering regions, with a vocation to academic interchange and sympathetic cooperation with countries which are part of Mercosur and other countries in Latin America”.
