Líneas de Investigación de la Maestría en Física Aplicada I PPGFISA

The Program is different in as far as it emphasizes the direct application of Physics, with lines of research that include both Theoretical and Experimental Physics. This Master’s degree program of UNILA has two fields of concentration: Theoretical and Computational Physics and Condensed Matter Physics. The first field includes two lines of research: Complex Systems; and Physics, Mathematics and Celestial Mechanics. The second field, on the other hand, comprehends two other lines: Thermodynamics and Physical Chemistry; and Materials and Devices.

The studies of these Complex Systems extend the prediction of processes that have a diversity of space and time scales. The line of research of Thermodynamics and Physical Chemistry, on the other hand, involves the possibility of studies such as physical, chemical and biological systems, as well as models of molecular dynamics. Lastly, the studies of Materials and Devices include research in the fields of solar cell development, thin films, nanostructured materials, instrumentation devices, among others.

Field of Concentration: Theoretical and Computational Physics

Lines of Research:

  1. Complex Systems: This line of research involves the theoretical study through modeling and simulation of complex systems with several applications on biology and materials.
  2. Physics, Mathematics and Celestial Mechanics: This line of research involves the theoretical study of mathematical models with heavy application on Physics and Cosmology.

Field of Concentration: Condensed Matter Physics

Lines of Research:

  1. Thermodynamics and Physical Chemistry: This line of research involves the theoretical study of different themes of thermodynamics and physical chemistry which are directly related to the environment.
  2. Materials and Devices: This line of research involves the theoretical and/or experimental study for simulation, modeling, preparation and characterization of materials. It also includes the development of scientific instrumentation to be used in the manufacturing and characterization of materials, as well as in interdisciplinary instrumentation in different fields of physics.
